Direct observation of modal hybridization in nanofluidic fiber [Invited]

چکیده

Hybrid-material optical fibers enhance the capabilities of fiber-optics technologies, extending current functionalities to several emerging application areas. Such platforms rely on integration novel materials into fiber core or cladding, thereby supporting hybrid modes with new characteristics. Here we present experiments that reveal mode interactions within a doped-core silica containing central high-index nanofluidic channel. Compared standard liquid-filled capillary, calculations predict unique properties as result doped core/cladding interface, possessing high power fraction inside and outside Our directly beating pattern in fluorescent liquid resulting from excitation first two linearly polarized this system, being excellent agreement theoretical predictions. The efficient beat such an off-resonance situation distinguishes our device regular directional couplers can benefit applications demand strong coupling between fundamental- higher-order- modes, e.g. intermodal third-harmonic generation, bidirectional coupling, sensing.

Direct Observation of Charge Inversion in Divalent Nanofluidic Devices.

Solid-state nanofluidic devices have proven to be ideal systems for studying the physics of ionic transport at the nanometer length scale. When the geometrical confining size of fluids approaches the ionic Debye screening length, new transport phenomena occur, such as surface mediated transport and permselectivity. Prior work has explored these effects extensively in monovalent systems (e.g., p...

Mechanical Properties of Irregular Fiber (Invited Review Paper)

Irregularities are inherent to virtually all fibers, including the conventional textile fibers, the high-performance brittle fibers and newly developed nano-fibers. These irregularities can fall into two main categories: dimensional or geometrical irregularity (external) and structural irregularity (internal). For natural fibers such as wool, diameter variation along fiber length is atypical ex...

Observation of Raman Gain in Reduced Length of Bismuth Erbium Doped Fiber

Raman amplification of a 49 cm Bismuth oxide (Bi2O3) as a nonlinear gainmedium based erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) is reported in new and compactdesign in near infrared spectral regions. The bismuth glass host provides theopportunity to be doped heavily with erbium ions to allow a compact optical gain fiberamplifier design by using reduced fiber length and the 1480...

Modal Observation Equivalence of Processes

This paper shows that many simulation equivalences over processes can be characterised by a single parameterised modal logic formula. For many equivalences there is a parameterised modal logic formula f(t) such that for every pair of processes P and Q, P Q if and only if P j= f(Q). For any speci c P the formula f(P ) becomes a x point formula of the normal modal logic K . Strong bisimulation eq...

Hybridization of Facial Features and Use of Multi Modal Information for 3D Face Recognition

Despite of achieving good performance in controlled environment, the conventional 3D face recognition systems still encounter problems in handling the large variations in lighting conditions, facial expression and head pose The humans use the hybrid approach to recognize faces and therefore in this proposed method the human face recognition ability is incorporated by combining global and local ...
